Mfundo obtained his B Juris from the University of Transkei in 1990 and his LLB from the University of Natal (PMB) in 1993. 

He worked for Business Partners (then Known as SBDC) as a Legal Advisor for a period of three years at the Port Elizabeth Regional offices. 

Thereafter he commenced his Articles of Clerkship with Oosthuizen Hazell and Wilmot and was admitted as an attorney in 1998. 

After working as a Professional Assistant for a year, he then joined the State Attorney Division as an Assistant State Attorney. 

During this period he obtained his Masters of Law in Commercial Law through UNISA, specialising in Banking Law and Company Law. 

He joined LEXICON in April 2003 as a Director. 

He is LEXICON’s Head of the Commercial and Conveyancing Divisions of our firm and also project manages the Low Cost Housing projects that we handle for the various local authorities throughout the Eastern Cape. 

Furthermore he is a directly involved in the management of all aspects of the business and the day-to-day running of the practice. 

Mfundo has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation, debt collecting and the drafting of various commercial contracts. 

He was admitted as a Conveyancer and Notary in 2004 and 2005 respectively. 

He has subsequently obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Taxation.

BProc. - Certificate in E-Law

Michael matriculated from Grey High School, Port Elizabeth with “A” aggregate in 1979. 

He registered for a Bproc Degree, which he obtained from the University of Port Elizabeth in 1984 while at the same time doing his articles at Burman, Katz Attorneys. 

From 1986 to 1988 he worked as a Professional Assistant at Loon and Connellan Attorneys after which he became a Director.  In 1990 he founded LEXICON Attorneys, which was then known as White and Williams INC. 

He has been a Director of the firm since its establishment.  In 2002 he obtained a Certificate in Electronic Law from the University of Cape Town. 

Michael’s professional conduct has resulted in him having held various positions of authority during his career including:

  • The President of the South Eastern Cape Attorney Association;
  • The Chairman of Conveyancing and Property Committee of the Attorneys Association;
  • A member of the Cape Law Society Committee which negotiated and drafted the Professional Conduct Rules of Attorneys;
  • A member of the Cape Law Society Committee which negotiated the re-structuring of the Governing Body for Attorneys in the Post-Apartheid Era;
  • A member of the negotiating Committee regarding the positioning of the Land Registry offices in the New South Africa;
  • A member of the Property Law Group, tasked with making proposals to the Minister of Land Affairs, regarding the Land Registry System in the Post-Apartheid South Africa.
  • Michael was also a part time Lecturer at the University of Port Elizabeth’s Practical Legal Training School.

Apart from practising Law, Michael is also a Co-Shareholder in a Property Management Company and co-owner of Highlands Road Estate, a wine farm in the Western Cape. 

He is also the owner, co-owner and developer of various commercial, agricultural and residential properties in Port Elizabeth, Eastern and Western Cape.

Michael specialises in Commercial and Property Law.  He has extensive experience in the project management of property developments from the initial stage of dealing with an undeveloped piece of land through to the registration of ownership of an individual title. 

Michael also has an extensive and lengthy history of involvement in corporate structuring including acquisitions, mergers and Johannesburg Stock Exchange listing. 

He has on many occasions acted as a broker in various business sales, acquisitions and mergers.

Genny obtained her B Proc degree from UPE, now known as Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). 

She commenced her articles of clerkship in 1990 with Shefer Pretorius Shear and Van Rooy Attorneys and remained with them as a Professional Assistant for 2 years. 

She then joined McWilliams and Elliott and was appointed as a director and the Head of the Conveyancing Department until 2006 when Genny joined Joubert Galpin Searle as a Director and Head of the Property Department. 

Genny joined Lexicon Attorneys in 2014 as a Director.

She is a registered trainer with the Law Society and has been a lecturer to prospective conveyancers for a number of years.

She also lectured part time at the Attorneys Night School in Administration of Deceased Estates and at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Notarial Practice.

She has been a panel attorney for all the major banks for years and has done a wide spectrum of Bank work, including bond registrations, normal, deceased and legal cancellations, foreclosure transfers, PIP transfers, and she has attended to compliance on behalf of the banks.

Genny specialises in municipal conveyancing including road closures, vesting transfers, opening of township registers and registration of general plans and liaising with Government to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and has been involved in all areas of Property Law, Conveyancing and Notarial Practice.

She attends to all aspects at Conventional and Sectional Title Registrations, including opening of Township and Sectional Title Registers, Extensions of schemes, consolidations and subdivisions of sections and erven as well as the registration of Hybrid Schemes.  She attends to the Administration of Deceased Estates and all aspects of Deceased Estate Conveyancing.

Genny has attended to the project management and registration of various sectional title and free hold complexes.

She also attend to all aspects of Notarial Work, inter alia registration of servitudes, Notarial Leases, Powers of Attorney, Authentication of documents, Antenuptial Contracts and all Notarial agreements.

Her interests include the following:

  • Fine art artist – has done a Master class in oil portrait painting with Andrew James RP the Vice President of the British Royal Portrait Society

  • She has completed various half marathons

Attorney - Conveyancer - Notary Public
Right of Appearance High Court

Anthony matriculated from St Andrew’s College, Grahamstown in 1979.  He enrolled at Rhodes University and obtained his LLB degree.

He did his articles at the firm of Espin and Espin Attorneys, which later merged with Whitesides Attorneys in Grahamtown.

After completing his articles, he worked as a Professional Assistant at Rushmere Noach Attorneys from 1998 – 1993.

He then joined Chris Cornish as a partner in the firm Cornish and Bowes Attorneys which merged with Oosthuizen Hazell and Wilmot Incorporated in 2001 and thereafter joined Lexicon as a director following on the firms merger in 2016.

He has been on a panel of attorneys of a number of financial institutions and has attended to a wide spectrum of work on their behalf including deceased estates, transfers, bonds and property transfer.

He attends all aspects of Conventional and Sectional Title registrations, administrations of deceased estates, general litigation and commercial law.

He also deals with Notarial work, involving servitudes, Notarial leases, trusts, various Notarial Agreements including Antenuptial contracts.

Right of Appearance High Court

Paul matriculated from Grey High School, Port Elizabeth in 1994.

He obtained his BProc degree in 1999 and his LLB in 2001 from UPE, now known as Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

In 2000, pursuant to having obtained his degrees, he attended the School for Legal Practice (Port Elizabeth).

He commenced his Articles of Clerkship with Oosthuizen Hazell & Wilmot Inc and was admitted as an attorney in 2004.

In 2009 he obtained his Right of Appearance in the High Court of South Africa.

After working as a professional assistant at Oosthuizen Hazell & Wilmot Inc he was made a Director at Lexicon Attorneys following its merger with Oosthuizen Hazell & Wilmot in April 2016.

He has experience in Magistrate’s Court and High Court litigation as well as matrimonial matters, administration, debt review and debt collection.
